Justin Harding: Looking forward to Muirfield on his Open debut

The 27-year-old stormed to a three-shot victory in the 36-hole event in Johannesburg after carding nine birdies and just one bogey.

The South African topped the leaderboard on 14 under, and he will be joined at Muirfield in July by Spain's Eduardo De La Riva and fellow South African Darryn Lloyd, who finished on 11 under and nine under respectively.

"I'm so happy to get through," Harding said. "There are about 70 players here and a lot of them have won tournaments, both on the European and Sunshine Tours, and to get one of only three spots is incredible.

"All of us as youngsters avidly watched The Open over the years and I'm really looking forward to my first major.

"With Ernie Els defending it will be a special one and I've heard that Muirfield is a phenomenal place, so everything feels perfect right now."

De La Riva closed with a 66 to post 11 under, while Lloyd snatched the final place on offer with a dramatic birdie at the last which edged out compatriots Jake Roos and Garth Mulroy with a play-off looming.

English veteran Ross McGowan finished a shot further back, while first-round leader Andrew Georgiou crashed to a 74 to finish four adrift of Lloyd on five under.
