The Open: Justin Rose bidding to emulate Phil Mickelson at Royal Liverpool

Justin Rose is convinced that his victory in Scotland last week should make him an even hotter favourite for this week's Open Championship.

At Royal Liverpool, Rose will be bidding to emulate 2013 Scottish Open champion Phil Mickelson by also winning the Open title the following week.

In fact the Englishman will be aiming for three straight wins following his success at Congressional in his previous outing and dismisses any talk of burnout or win-fatigue.

The world No 3 told Sky Sports News: "Had I not won in Aberdeen I feel this would have been a realistic opportunity and I don't feel it's any less of an opportunity because I won last week.

"I would say the odds go more in my favour, just through confidence and the experience of having done it the last couple of weeks."

Rose already has one major title to his name - the 2013 US Open - and feels he knows exactly what he has to do to add a Claret Jug to his collection.

"Winning a major championship is not easy no matter what the circumstances are," he added.

"So for me the goal is to trust my game, to get a good game plan going, to not get ahead of myself, to get to the first tee on Thursday fresh and ready to play.

"And if I commit to all the things I know how to do, all my skills, if I manage to let them all come out this week, then I am going to give myself a good opprtunity."
