Joshua vs Whyte: Heavyweight rivals top bumper bill in London
Wednesday 2 December 2015 16:22, UK
Bitter rivalries will be settled, big punchers will collide and world title hopes are at stake on a bumper December 12 bill, live on Sky Sports Box Office.
Heavyweight foes Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte will put unbeaten records and pride on the line when the first bell rings, while a packed card in the capital includes another potentially explosive grudge match between Chris Eubank Jr and Gary 'Spike' O'Sullivan - two feuding middleweights.
Tony Bellew and Kevin Mitchell face make-or-break fights as they attempt to keep their world title dreams alive and highly rated duo Luke Campbell and Josh Warrington cannot afford slip-ups on a potentially career-defining night at The O2.
Anthony Joshua (14-0-0, 14 KOs) v Dillian Whyte (16-0-0, 13 KOs)
British & Commonwealth heavyweight titles
This is the biggest step up in the career of heavyweight hope Joshua. Whyte beat him as an amateur and there is certainly no love lost between the pair. Joshua is from the north London area, Whyte the south, yet both are unbeaten and both can bang. Joshua has never gone beyond three rounds, Whyte says he is in Joshua's soul. Something has to give.
Chris Eubank Jr (20-1-0, 15 KOs) v Gary 'Spike' O'Sullivan (22-1-0, 15 KOs)
WBA middleweight eliminator
Eubank Jr is Matchroom's latest big-name signing and has his eyes set on the world middleweight title, but O'Sullivan stands in the way. He is trained by Pascal Collins, brother of Steve, the man who had the number on Eubank Sr. The Irishman man can punch, Eubank Jr is on the up. He might not yet be a celebrity, but can Spike get him out of there? We will see.
Tony Bellew (25-2-1, 16 KOs) v Mateusz Masternak (36-3-0, 26 KOs)
Vacant European cruiserweight title
Bellew is taking on one of the most durable and dangerous cruiserweights in the shape of Masternak, who is ready to put it all on the line. 'Bomber' has been on the big screen but knows it is now or never to try and get back to the elite level. And he is ready for an 'all-out war'.
Kevin Mitchell (39-3-0, 29 KOs) v Ismael Barroso (18-0-2, 17 KOs)
WBA Interim lightweight title
Mitchell is one of Britain's slickest operators and returns to the ring following his heartbreaking world title challenge at The O2 at the end of May. He has the experience and the skills but Venezuelan Barroso is a southpaw knockout specialist. And the winner is line to challenge Anthony Crolla.
Luke Campbell (12-0-0, 10 KOs) v TBC
12 Rnds lightweight
Campbell is part of the hottest division in domestic boxing and will want to continue his impressive rise with another victory in the capital. The Hull man confirmed his status as one of Britain's best prospects when he halted local rival Tommy Coyle in August. Fellow Brits Anthony Crolla and Tommy Flanagan both now hold world titles and Campbell could soon be hot on their heels.
Josh Warrington (22-0-0, 4 KOs) v Jorge Sanchez (15-0-0, 9 KOs)
WBC International featherweight title
The Leeds star is heading south looking to take a step closer to the IBF world champion, Lee Selby, in the summer. Warrington needs to win and win well but Panamanian Sanchez hadn't tasted defeat yet either. He carries a better knockout ratio but Warrington is a featherweight who is flying right now.
Joshua vs Whyte is exclusively live on Sky Sports Box Office on December 12, and is now available to order via phone or online.
