UFC: Frankie Edgar dominated and finally submitted Cub Swanson

But it's another bad night for the Brits

Frankie Edgar scored the latest finish in UFC history by submitting Cub Swanson with four seconds remaining of their five-round, 25-minute bout at Fight Night in Austin, Texas.

It was a dominant evening for Edgar who spent the majority of the fight taking Swanson to the ground and landing strikes from top position.

The 33-year-old, a former champion at lightweight in the division above this featherweight meeting, could now rematch the 145-pound champion Jose Aldo to whom he lost last year – although Conor McGregor is also well-placed for a title shot.

Edgar landed over 200 more strikes than Swanson, most of which were scored while on top of his grounded opponent, and completed seven out of 10 takedown attempts.

Despite clearly winning the first four rounds Edgar still aimed for a conclusive finish, and secured a choke which Swanson submitted to with just four seconds until the final bell.

Elsewhere in Texas, it was another disappointing evening for England’s most prominent fighters. Luke Barnatt and Brad Pickett lost decisions to Roger Narvaez and Chico Camus, respectively, a fortnight after Michael Bisping and Ross Pearson lost in Australia.
