Holly Holm is "thankful" for the opportunity to become the first women's featherweight champion when she meets Germaine de Randamie at UFC 208 in Brooklyn on Saturday night.
The 35-year-old American endured a tough 2016 after losing her bantamweight crown to Meisha Tate before being out-pointed by Valentina Shevchenko.
But she is determined to make a comeback when she fights for the inaugural women's featherweight title in Brooklyn, New York for its first pay-per-view of the year.
Fan-favourite Holm will be bidding to become the promotion's first female multiple weight champion and she is excited to be fighting in at the Barclays Center.
"It's awesome," said Holm. "How can I not be excited to be here, in Brooklyn. There's a lot of boxing history here and I've had a passion for boxing and MMA, so this is huge.
"I'm a fighter, I love to fight and I love all aspects of the game so I'm glad it's all here, happening now. I'm glad to be a part of it.
"It's the first time the 145 pound division has even been in there, it's for the title and it's in a different weight class. I now have the opportunity to get titles in two different weight classes. I'm so thankful for this opportunity."
