Wheelchair racer David Weir triumphed in the Berlin Marathon on Sunday and set a new personal best in the process.

The 36-year-old Briton, who was a quadruple gold medallist at London 2012, crossed the line in one hour, 27 minutes and 36 seconds to beat Switzerland's Heinz Frei by just over three seconds.

With the course in the German capital renowned as a quick one, the time took 41 seconds off Weir's previous best.

In the men's elite race, Kenya's Eliud Kipchoge added the Berlin crown to his London Marathon win in August, winning in a world-leading 2:04.01.

Great Britain's Scott Overall achieved the Olympic qualifying standard by finishing 10th in 2:11.24.
