British Athletics performance director Neil Black is convinced Katarina Johnson-Thompson will learn from the acute disappointment she suffered in missing out on a medal at the recent World Athletics Championships in China.
The young Briton was well placed to claim either gold or silver in the heptathlon event when she messed up in her favourite event – the long jump.
The 22-year-old failed to record a jump – or a single point – after registering three fouls in the discipline at the Bird's Nest stadium in Beijing.
The Merseyside athlete left the arena in tears and will now prepare to make up for this terrible error at next year's Olympic Games in Brazil.
Looking ahead, Black said: "You think therefore she's learned and she knows what this is all about, but there is nothing like a World Championships, there is nothing like an Olympic Games, and the pressure that comes with that and the multiple different aspects of it.
"I think Kat will have learned massively from this. She'll be stronger and more experienced for it.
"She's already been through a re-planning process and a learning process with Mike Holmes, her coach.
"She's going to come out all guns blazing in the future and, if it is possible to be more likely to perform in the future, I think she will."
