Greg Rutherford has pulled out of Saturday's Glasgow Indoor Grand Prix due to injury.
The Olympic and world long jump champion, who broke the British indoor record with a leap of 8.26m in Albuquerque earlier this month, said he made the decision after suffering a "small muscle tear".
He said: "I was planning on competing in Albuquerque again last Friday, but decided not to jump due to some minor pain I've felt during my warm-up routine.
"Unfortunately I'm still dealing with this and, while it hasn't been any easy decision, I have to withdraw from this week's Glasgow Indoor Grand Prix.
"The atmosphere during the 2014 Commonwealth Games was fantastic and I'm disappointed that I can't make it back to Glasgow, especially since my training was going very well.
"It's just a minor injury I'm dealing with, but you have to be smart in an Olympic year."
He added on Twitter: "It's never easy pulling out of competitions, especially when my competitive side kicks in. But I have to be smart with a small muscle tear."
Rutherford said he was still hoping to compete at the Indoor British Championships in Sheffield the following weekend.
The 29-year-old becomes the second high-profile withdrawal from the event at the Emirates Arena this weekend after an Achilles injury forced Jessica Ennis-Hill to miss the indoor season.
Rutherford had been due to face Paralympic champion Markus Rehm in Glasgow.
