Britain's David Weir has won a record seventh London Marathon title in the men's wheelchair race.

The 37-year-old sealed victory one hour, 31 minutes and six seconds after a sprint finish to beat defending champion Marcel Hug of Switzerland into second place by one second.

Spain's Rafael Botello Jimenez was third after finishing two seconds further back.

His victory sees him surpass fellow Briton Baroness Grey-Thompson, who has six titles in the women's wheelchair race.

The Briton had trailed Hug at the 35-kilometre mark but mounted a late fightback to win.

Weir, taking part for an 18th straight year, won the Paris Marathon earlier this month and sealed victory in London for the first time since 2012.
