Christine Ohuruogu admits she is likely to stop competing after the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
The Commonwealth champion has been in holding camp with the Team GB squad in Fukuoka, Japan as she prepares to defend her 400m title at her sixth World Championships later this month.
She told the Sportswomen show on Sky Sports News HQ: "As long as I enjoy myself then who knows? I enjoy what I'm doing and I've always said (I will continue) as long as I enjoy it.
"The enjoyment carries you through training and carries you through everything else that you can find yourself experiencing on this crazy journey, but I don't know, I think Rio might be it."
Ohuruogu's greatest triumph came at the Bird's Nest Stadium in Beijing, where she stormed to Olympic 400m gold in 2008.
The 31-year-old's track appearances have been few and far between over the last 18 months but Ohuruogu insists that was always the plan as she tries to make it a hat-trick of 400m world titles.
"2014 was designed to be a down year to allow my body to rest up," she said.
"We planned the next four or five years going on from London and in that four-year cycle I just knew I had to have a check point and just stop and allow the body to relax. It's also a mental relaxation."
Teenage sprint sensation Dina Asher-Smith is also part of the squad for Beijing and is among Britain's best medal prospects at the World Championships.
It's been a meteoric rise for the World and European junior champion, who last month became the first British woman in history to break the 11-second barrier over 100m.
"I think British female sprinting is at a time when we are pushing boundaries," she said.
"At the moment it does feel good but it is definitely odd! If you told me in 2012 after the World Junior Championships that I would be doing this, and in three years I'd be called Britain's fastest woman, I wouldn't have believed you."
