A security guard at the EuroLeague basketball match between Zalgiris Kaunas and Panathinaikos decided to show off his moves

A EuroLeague basketball match was upstaged on Thursday when a security guard took on one team's mascot - at dancing.

Zalgiris Kaunas prevailed 64-58 on their home court against Panathinaikos in Lithuania, live on Sky Sports Mix, but the real story was in the stands.

When Zalgiris' hirsute mascot decided to rouse the crowd by breaking into some moves, he was taken aback when the nearby security guard took him on at his own game.

Prepared with his own headphones, it remains unclear whether the security guard was overcome by the tune played out at the Zalgirio Arena or if his own personal playlist had just come up with his favourite song.

Either way, the guard - momentarily at least - went off duty and on form, with EuroLeague president Jordi Bertomeu even failing to resist a laugh at the spontaneous dance-off.

The watching commentators dubbed the improvised moves as "American-style", with fans at NBA games often caught on arena camera showcasing their best moves.
