Anthony Bennett will attempt to rebuild his NBA career with the Toronto Raptors after signing for his hometown team as a free agent.

Bennett has proved to be a major disappointment since he was selected with the first pick of the draft in 2013 by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Injuries meant Bennett, a 6ft 8in forward, played in only 52 games in what turned out to be his only season with the franchise, scoring just 4.2 points per game.

He was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves before the start of the 2014-15 season and played in another 57 games - again suffering niggling injury problems - with his scoring average rising only a little to 5.2 points per game.

But the Timberwolves decided to buy out the rest of his rookie contract and waived him last week, allowing the Raptors to step in and sign him on a reported league-minimum wage.
