Oden was signed by the Heat from Portland in August last year despite not having played since December 2009 due to a series of knee injuries.
But after several operations, the 2007 No 1 draft pick returned to the court and played nine minutes, scoring six points.
Oden's comeback failed to inspire Miami's bid to avoid a third straight defeat, although they did hit back from 34 points down to reduce Washington's lead to single figures.
But the Wizards ensured against a second straight collapse at home as they closed with a dominant 17-9 run, finishing the game with a season-high 55% shooting success rate from the field.
John Wall scored 25 points, and Bradley Beal and Nene had 19 each as seven Washington players posted double-figure scores.
Lead the Heat
Chris Bosh led the Heat with 26 points, while LeBron James had 25 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
Elsewhere in the NBA, Joakim Noah scored a season-high 26 points as Chicago snatched a thrilling 128-125 victory over Orlando after three periods of overtime.
Carlos Boozer added 23 points for the Bulls, while the Magic blew a chance to post their first win in nine games when a Glen Davis jump shot was deflected and recovered by the Bulls with just 1.5 seconds remaining in regulation.
Victor Oladipo netted a career-high 35 points and Jameer Nelson added 31 points and 10 assists for Orlando.
Another career high was recorded in Los Angeles as JJ Redick's 33-point haul helped the Clippers clinch a 129-127 win over Dallas.
The Mavericks held a commanding 17-point lead with only four minutes left before Redick, Matt Barnes and Blake Griffin sparked a stunning fightback from the home side.
