Britain’s Dan McLay will make his Tour de France debut after being selected by French team Fortuneo-Vital Concept.

The 24-year-old sprinter's call-up is reward for an impressive season in which he has won twice, at the Grand Prix de Denain in April and Grand Prix de la Somme in May.

McLay turned professional with Fortuneo-Vital Concept last year and will now go up against the likes of Marcel Kittel and Mark Cavendish in the Tour's flat stages.

McLay is the eighth Briton selected for this year's Tour, joining Chris Froome, Geraint Thomas, Ian Stannard, Luke Rowe, Cavendish, Steve Cummings and Adam Yates.

The 103rd edition of the race starts on Saturday at Mont-Saint-Michel and ends on Sunday, July 24, with the traditional sprint stage into Paris.
