Colombian takes mountain-top win

Mauricio Soler struck late up Crans-Montana's steep uphill finish to take the Tour of Switzerland's second stage. Movistar's Colombian rider waited until the dying seconds of the 149-km course to mount an attack which brought him home 12 seconds clear of Damiano Cunego (Lampre) and last year's winner Frank Schleck (Leopard Trek). Soler's success also left him to the top the overall standings after two of the nine stages, 16 seconds ahead of Italian Cunego. "I'm pleased to win because it's been four years since I've won a race, and I was getting worried," Soler said. "I'd had a tough first half of the season too, with lots of crashes and injuries. Finally, though, it seems like I'm back on track. "We'd talked about winning today's stage in the team and agreed that I'd have to try in the last kilometre, but only my second attack worked."
