Norwegian rider agrees three-year deal

World champion Thor Hushovd has joined Tour de France winner Cadel Evans' BMC Racing team for the 2012 season, the Swiss-American squad have announced. The 33-year-old, who succeeded Evans as world champion, has signed a three-year deal until the end of the 2014 season. Hushovd, who will move from Garmin-Cervelo, won two stages of last month's Tour and wore the race leader's yellow jersey for seven days. The Norwegian's main aim is to win one of cycling's biggest races. He said: "My biggest goal is still to win Paris-Roubaix. The BMC Racing Team has good riders to support me." BMC Racing team president and general manager Jim Ochowicz said: "Thor brings a lot of qualities to us and complements other riders on the team in races like the spring classics and the Grand Tours. "We're very happy to have his talents, enthusiasm and expertise now working with the BMC Racing team family for 2012 and beyond." end
