Australian sprinter Mark Renshaw has agreed a two-year contract with Rabobank.
Cavendish's lead-out man going for glory himself next season
Australia's Mark Renshaw, who has guided Mark Cavendish to many of his Tour de France stage wins, has agreed a two-year contract with Rabobank, the Dutch team announced.
Renshaw's signing was confirmed after the demise of HTC-Highroad saw him freed from his contract, which was due to run into the 2012 season.
The 28-year-old, who played a crucial role in Cavendish's success, piloting the Briton in sprint finales, will ride in support of Holland's Theo Boss, but will also target success on his own.
Renshaw, who had been linked with Australian squad Green Edge, said on
www.rabosport.nl: "For many years I helped others to win, now I'm going to try to win some of the biggest competitions for myself."
Rabobank technical director Erik Breukink said: "Renshaw has excellent qualities and extensive experience in sprints."
The move is set to signal the separation of Renshaw and Cavendish, with the latter set to announce his destination in the coming weeks.
