Irishman pens two-year Gramin deal

Dan Martin has committed his future to Team Garmin-Sharp-Barracuda by signing a new deal through to 2014. The 26-year-old Irishman has enjoyed a successful spell with the team, including winning the Tour of Poland in 2010 and taking a stage victory in last year's Vuelta a Espana. He finished 35th in the overall classification on his Tour de France debut - one hour, 25 minutes and 23 seconds behind yellow jersey winner Bradley Wiggins - capturing three top-10 finishes along the way. Martin, nephew of the 1987 Tour de France champion Stephen Roche, is delighted to pledge his loyalty to the team. "Slipstream Sports has been my home for five seasons and I'm happy to say I will ride in Garmin-Sharp-Barracuda colours for two more years," he said. "It's been an incredible few months for me with finishing my first Tour de France and competing in the Olympics, and re-signing with the team just adds to it."
