Britain’s Peter Kennaugh completed overall victory at the Settimana Coppi e Bartali in Italy as his Team Sky team-mate Dario Cataldo won the final day’s 10km individual time trial.

Kennaugh finished 22nd on the stage but topped the general classification by 12 seconds to seal the first stage-race triumph of his career.

Cataldo’s victory saw him jump from third to second overall as Team Sky completed a one-two in a race they dominated from start to finish, winning four stages.

Matteo Rabottini (Neri Sottoli) claimed the final place on the podium by finishing second on the final day, eight seconds down on Cataldo’s winning time of 16min 28sec.

Alexander Foliforov (Itera-Katusha) led for much of the afternoon with a time of 16min 46sec, but as the general classification contenders tackled the course the benchmark began to fall.

Diego Rosa (Androni-Venezuela) went six seconds quicker, before Rabottini shaved off a further four seconds. Cataldo sealed the win shortly after, taking back the 18 seconds he required to leapfrog Manuel Bongiorno (Bardiani-CSF) into second overall.
