Lucy Garner finishes third at one-day Grand Prix de Dottignies in Belgium

Britain’s Lucy Garner claimed her second podium of the season by sprinting to third place at the one-day Grand Prix de Dottignies in Belgium.

The 19-year-old Giant-Shimano rider was edged out by winner Giorgia Bronzini, of Italy, and second-placed Shelley Olds, of the United States.

She tweeted afterwards: "Cool being able to try a lead out with the girls today. They did an amazing job for me!! I couldn't finish it off but I'm happy with 3rd!"

Laura Trott (Wiggle Honda) also took part in the race and finished 14th.

Sprint specialist Garner has only taken part in four races so far this year and has now finished in the top three in two of them.
