Astana sign Tour de l'Avenir winner Miguel Angel Lopez on two-year contract

Astana have announced the signing of promising Colombian climber Miguel Angel Lopez on a two-year-deal.
The 20-year-old claimed overall victory, won a stage and topped the mountains classification at last month’s Tour de l’Avenir, a prestigious under-23 race that is widely regarded as the premier proving ground for up-and-coming riders.
Astana general manager said Alexandre Vinokourov said: “We hope that he can grow with us in a two-year contract, and that he can be an effective rider in the mountains and, at first, help Fabio Aru.”
Lopez is Astana’s seventh new signing for the 2015 season, following Luis Leon Sanchez, Lars Boom, Rein Taaramae, Laurens de Vreese, Davide Malacarne and Diego Rosa in aggreeing to join the Kazakh team.
