German sprinter Andre Greipel has confirmed his participation in next month’s Aviva Tour of Britain.

The 33-year-old German sprinter, who won four stages of this summer's Tour de France, will lead the Belgian Lotto Soudal squad at the eight-day race, which takes place from September 6-13.

Greipel last took part in the Tour of Britain in 2010, when he won three stages.

Race director Mick Bennett said: "This is great news for British fans who can look forward to seeing Andre Griepel battling it out in the sprints at the Aviva Tour of Britain.

"We fondly recall Andre's previous participation in the race and are delighted that he, and the Lotto Soudal team, are returning to race in Britain.
