We're delighted to announce the winners of our recent Team Sky kids' bike competition.

Sir Dave Brailsford and four riders have chosen their favourite entries from our recent Team Sky kids’ bike competition, and we’re pleased to announce Ted Elwell as the winner.

Ted impressed Sir Dave with his brilliant submission, and it certainly stood out from the hundreds of emails we received. Like Team Sky and all the other entrants, Ted turns five years old in 2015 and he was asked to sum up why he loves riding his bike in 50 words or less.

His answer read: “My name's Ted but some people call me 'Little Ted'. I've started school and I'm the shortest and youngest in my class. I love riding my bike though, because on it I'm equal to everyone. I love to laugh as I zoom past people and they stare: shocked and amazed!"

Ted will now get the chance to visit his local Team Sky kids’ bike stockist and choose any bike from our range.

If that wasn’t enough, five runners up were also chosen by Bernhard Eisel, Richie Porte, Ben Swift and Elia Viviani, and they will each receive a five-piece Team Sky kids’ accessories pack containing a Team Sky kids’ helmet, saddle pack, rucksack, rucksack cover and water bottle.

Their entries read as follows:

Calum Balneaves (chosen by Elia) loves the idea of riding a bike but hasn't quite mastered it yet. When the nice weather comes he will.  Calum wrote: “I like riding my bike because it means I can chase dinosaurs”

Esme Basterfield (chosen by Bernie) is five in October, and she wrote: “I love riding my bike because it is fun riding through puddles! Daddy and I shout “Allez! Allez!” and I pretend to win the pink jersey. When we get home mummy and I make us all hot chocolate with marshmallows.”

Ben couldn’t decide between Madeleine Dickeson and Grace McGuigan, so we chose both of them. Madeleine wrote: “I love letting my twin brother ride in front and then I zoom past him at the end.”

Grace wrote: “My name is Grace & I love to race My bike around and all over the place. To win a new bike, from Team Sky Would just be Ace & make me cry (with happiness of course).”

Finally, Richie chose Kanta Kubo from Japan. Kanta got his bike on his third birthday and goes to the park every day.  He rode his first triathlon last summer and outstripped all the big kids!

Kanta said: “I think I can go really fast with a cool Sky bike.  Really really fast!”
