Pinarello has launched a special edition frame to commemorate Sir Bradley Wiggins's first appearance in the world champion’s jersey.

Sir Bradley Wiggins has received an extraordinary gift to commemorate his first appearance in the world champion’s jersey on Tuesday with Pinarello launching a special edition Dogma F8 frame in his honour.

The sleek white frame incorporates a custom paint job which celebrates Sir Bradley’s outstanding career. On the top tube is a gold image of him alongside Union Jack and World Championship logos to mark his current reign as British, World and Olympic time trial champion. Further iconography also highlights his 2012 Tour de France win and additional world and Olympic track titles.

Wiggins will debut the bike on stage three of the Tour of Qatar, which sees him tackle a 10.9km course around the Losail International Race Circuit. Traditional road frames are being used throughout the peloton on that stage as opposed to regular time trial bikes.

Pinarello CEO Fausto Pinarello has overseen the Wiggins project personally, and is delighted with the results.

He said: “When I found out what Bradley’s first time trial performance would be this season, I wanted to give him a present to commemorate that, and felt a new Dogma F8 frame design would be the perfect gift.

“Bradley has won so much in his career and I wanted a frame to remind him of that. All his major achievements are included in the design, and the paint job was easy for us to do as we have our own paint shop in our factory in Treviso.

“Including a picture of him on the frame was something different, and something new for our designers to work with, and they did a fantastic job in bringing everything together. The result is a very elegant and stylish frame.”

To mark the occasion, Pinarello are producing a limited run of frames which will be made available for purchase. Stay tuned for more details on that.
