Sir Bradley Wiggins to race against amateurs in Hull 10-mile time trial
World and Olympic champion eyeing British record

Sir Bradley Wiggins will race against amateurs on open roads just outside Hull on Saturday as he bids to break the British 10-mile record.
Wiggins will be one of 150 riders taking part in a time trial organised by the City Road Club (Hull) on the A63 dual-carriageway between South Cave and North Ferriby.
The existing 10-mile record of 17min 20sec was set by Alex Dowsett last May, but Wiggins is aiming to smash it by a large margin and dip under 17 minutes.
The A63 course is well-suited to breaking the record due to the flat, smooth surface and the fact that the course is out and back, containing only one corner.
The road is not closed to traffic, however, meaning that drivers could find themselves overtaking – or being overtaken – by the world and Olympic time-trial champion.
Although the 10-mile record would not rank alongside his four Olympic gold medals, his Tour de France win or the world hour record he is looking to break next month, it is a coveted honour on the British cycling scene and Wiggins wants it back, having previously held it in 2006 with a time of 17min 58sec.
City Road Club (Hull) are delighted to be hosting Wiggins at the event.
Club chairman Ken Bateman told the Hull Daily Mail: "We are over the moon. It will be a huge occasion to have Sir Bradley Wiggins doing what he does best in our time trial on the A63.”
Wiggins will set off at 4.30pm and will need to average 34.6mph if he is to break the 17-minute barrier.
