Former Tour de France winner Sir Bradley Wiggins has withdrawn from this weekend’s British Cycling National Track Championships in Manchester.

Wiggins has returned to the track with the aim of riding in the team pursuit in the Rio 2016 Olympics next year.

The 35-year-old was advised not to race on medical grounds, after suffering a cold in the aftermath of the Tour of Britain.

He will now continue his preparations for the UEC European Track Cycling Championships in Switzerland in mid-October.
