Our Italian domestique takes a break from his Tour of Qatar preparations to answer 20 completely random questions.
Discussing the issues that matter
Salvatore Puccio is working hard to hone his condition ahead of the Tour of Qatar, but took time out of his busy schedule to answer these wide-ranging and thought-provoking questions: If you could live in one era of history, what would it be? Good opening question! As an Italian I’d like to go back to the Roman times and check out how we went about things back then. What’s your favourite sport apart from cycling? Football. I am a big Juventus fan so it's great to see them at the top of Serie A right now. What are your favourite animals? I'd have to say horses or dogs. Anything but cats, I don’t like cats! If you had one year off, what would you do? I’d love to travel around the world. That’s a lifetime dream of mine – to see as many different places as I can. If you were a super hero, what power would you like to have? I’d like everything that Superman has – especially the flying part.
What is your favourite sandwich?
Am I allowed burgers? If so, my favourite is definitely a cheeseburger.
What is your favourite meal to cook?
I like to cook with eggs and I make a mean omlette.
Would you rather be really, really big, or really, really small?
Hmm... Really big I think so I could get around faster
What was your favourite school subject?
PE. Playing sport never really seemed like a subject.
What was your first job?
I used to deliver bread. A guy from the bakery would drive me around in a small van and I’d drop it into people’s houses.
What would you take with you to a desert island?
Plenty of food and drink. I'd take a little bit of everything.
What animal scares you the most?
Tigers, I guess, although I've never actually seen one.
If you could play another sport professionally, what would it be?
Tennis, because they always seem to play in nice weather.
What item should you throw away but you can’t?
I honestly don’t have anything that I can think of for that one. I'm not much of a hoarder.
If you could live anywhere, where would that be?
Zanzibar. It look beautiful there and a nice way of life.
If you could visit one place in the world, where would it be?
I'd like to go to Mauritius.
What animal are you most like?
Probably a puma because I like to stay out of the limelight until I attack (laughs).
If you had to be tied to a team-mate for 24 hours, who would you pick?
Probably Kosta [Kanstantsin Siutsou]. He’s a good friend and is always good company.
Have you ever fired a gun?
No, I'm happy to say I haven't.
What are your hobbies outside of cycling?
Just spending time with my friends and family. Bike riders spend a lot of time away from home so it's nice to go back and spend time with them.
