Olympic gold medallist determined to carry on in cycling
Rebecca Romero plans to return to the saddle within weeks following her self-imposed break from the sport.
The 29-year-old opted to take some time off after winning gold in the women's individual pursuit at last summer's Olympic Games in Beijing.
However, Romero has revealed she is almost ready to resume training with the London games in 2012 her ultimate goal.
"Probably in the next few weeks there will come the point when I say, right, now it's back to full-time training," Romero said, speaking from the Track Cycling World Championships in Pruszkow, Poland.
"When I get back to the daily grind, I'll know what targets I want to set myself.
"At this world championships (in Pruszkow), I had no need to race. It's better that I take time off now.
"I'll see how I feel about things when I get back on the bike.
"But at the moment, I'm just taking a breather and getting back into training.
"When I go back I'll reassess but I don't want to set goals because I feel I have to. I'll wait until it comes to me.
"I'm definitely carrying on in the sport of cycling, developing my skills as a rider - and I'll see where that leads me."
