The 96th Tour de France started in Monaco on July 4 with the peloton due to cover approximately 3,460 kilometres in 23 days. With seven of those days spent in the high mountains, including the penultimate stage finishing at the fabled Mont Ventoux, the battle for the yellow jersey promises to be a war of attrition.
