Voeckler holds on to leader's jersey

Vacansoleil's Romain Feillu continued his solid start to the season by edging out Team Sky's Davide Appollonio to win the second stage of the Tour of the Mediterranean. The rapid Frenchman came out on top in the bunch sprint into Rousset, besting Team Sky's new Italian recruit in a difficult uphill finish. Team Sky had taken the initiative in the closing kilometres with Appollonio looking to fight back from an error at a roundabout the previous day. The 21-year-old was blocked off on the run to the line but still managed to grab second place, with Italian powerhouse Danilo Napolitano rounding out the podium. Opening stage winner Thomas Voeckler held on to the leader's jersey by a slender three seconds from Feillu following his last-gasp stage win on Wednesday. Appollonio leads the Team Sky charge and successfully made his way into the top 10 at just seven seconds back with three stages remaining.
