Showjumper Scott Brash has won the British Equestrian Writers' Association leading rider award for 2015.

The 30-year-old Scotsman has enjoyed an almost unbroken two-year spell as the sport's world No 1.

Brash, a member of Great Britain's gold medal-winning team at London 2012 who also won 2013 European team gold, highlighted another memorable year for him by landing the Rolex Grand Slam.

He became the first rider to achieve showjumping's clean sweep - successive grand prix victories at Geneva, Aachen and Spruce Meadows - with the brilliant 13-year-old gelding Hello Sanctos.

And Sanctos was also honoured by BEWA, being recognised with the leading horse award, while rising British showjumping star Jessica Mendoza won the Worshipful Company of Saddlers award, which is presented to a rider aged 25 and under.

Meanwhile, the Liz Dudden Trophy for a major contribution to equestrian sport went to former Great Britain para-equestrian performance manager and chef d'equipe David Hunter.
