There were four preseason finals down for decision this weekend, as Roscommon, Tyrone and Westmeath won in football, and Galway scooped hurling honours.

FBD League

Roscommon picked up the initial piece of silverware available to them in 2019 as they beat Galway in the FBD League final at Tuam. Anthony Cunningham continued his winning start at the helm of the Rossies, as they won out 0-13 to 1-05.

This will give them real momentum as they look ahead to their National League opener against Mayo on Saturday night. Meanwhile, Galway part with the Corofin contingent for now as they return to their club to prepare for the All-Ireland club semi-final with Gaoth Dobhair.

McKenna Cup

Tyrone and Armagh played out an exciting affair on Saturday night in front of a crowd of 11,318 at the Athletic Grounds. It was Mickey Harte's side who edged the final, 0-16 to 0-14.

Darren McCurry scored nine points for the Red Hands to help them to victory, but Kieran McGeeney will take heart from the Orchard County's showing ahead of their league opener away to Kildare next weekend.

O'Byrne Cup

Westmeath surprised an experimental Dublin team in the O'Byrne Cup final on Friday night, winning 1-12 to 0-10. The impressive Ger Egan scored 1-5, 1-4 of which came from play as Jack Cooney's side won the competition for the first time since 1988.

While Dublin didn't field any front-line stars, as they are set to welcome back the big guns for the National League, Westmeath will nonetheless take heart from a rare win over the Sky Blues.

Walsh Cup

Galway scored an away win over Wexford in the Walsh Cup final, winning 1-23 to 0-20. Both sides were depleted due to many of their players being involved in the Fitzgibbon Cup over the weekend.

Joe Canning hit 13 points for the Tribesmen to help the county to their first ever Walsh Cup title.
