Tyrone forward Lee Brennan has departed the Red Hands' senior football squad ahead of their Ulster Championship tie with Antrim next weekend.

The 23-year-old, who starred for the county throughout 2018 as they reached the All-Ireland final, is the second forward this year to leave Mickey Harte's set-up, following Ronan O'Neill.

The news was reported by the Ulster Herald, and it is believed Brennan grew frustrated with the lack of game-time. A regular last year, the Trillick club man only started one game during the Allianz League campaign in 2019.

Space in the Tyrone inside forward line has been at a premium this year, with Cathal McShane playing a key role as the county employ a more expansive style of play.

Former Tyrone forward Owen Mulligan described the development as "baffling":

Tyrone opened their Ulster Championship with a win over Derry last week to set up a quarter-final clash against the Saffrons.
