Gavin McParland scored a goal in each half as Armagh came from behind to defeat St Mary’s in the Dr McKenna Cup.

St Mary’s looked lively in the first quarter at the Athletic Grounds and sprinted into a 0-4 to 0-1 lead with Ryan Johnston (2), Jack Grugan and Thomas Canavan on target.

But Armagh found their feet and restored parity when Gavin McParland complemented his four points with a well-taken goal from a penalty.

St Mary’s led by 0-11 to 1-5 at the break but Armagh’s power and physique surfaced in the second half, and McParland’s second goal cemented their dominance.
