Passage hurler Noel Connors has been announced as Waterford's captain for the 2019 season.
The 28-year-old corner-back has been a key member of the Déise defence in recent seasons, as they picked up a National League title in 2015 and reached the 2017 All-Ireland final.
While they faltered in 2018, suffering relegation from Division 1A and finishing bottom of the Munster Championship group, they will hope to bounce back in 2019 under the management of Paraic Fanning.
Connors takes over the captaincy from Kevin Moran, who led the side throughout the Derek McGrath era. Meanwhile, Pauric Mahony and Tadhg de Búrca will act as vice-captains.
The Déise open their 2019 season in the Munster Senior League against Cork in Mallow on Wednesday night, as they build towards their National League opener at home to Offaly later this month. The Munster side will be considered amongst the front-runners for promotion to Division 1A along with Galway and Dublin in the coming months.
Fanning will be eager to put his stamp on the side, and build winning momentum throughout the spring as they prepare for the Munster Championship.
