Elite League: Braehead Clan close in on Sheffield Steelers after Belfast Giants win

A double from Stefan Meyer helped Braehead Clan record a 5-2 win over Belfast Giants, moving the Scottish side a point behind Elite League leaders Sheffield Steelers.

Quick-fire strikes from Lee Esders, Tristan Harper and Matt Keith helped the Clan establish a 3-0 lead before Mike Kompon scored to get the Giants back into the contest.

But Meyer struck either side of Kompon’s second goal of the game to wrap up the Clan’s 18th Elite League win of the season.

Meanwhile, a Jordan Mayer hat-trick helped Hull Stingrays record a 6-3 victory road win over Edinburgh Capitals.

And in the evening's final game, two goals from Jordan Fulton made the difference as Fife Flyers beat Dundee Stars 3-2.
