Sky Sports pundit confident ahead of Rally of Scotland
Sky Sports F1 analyst Tony Jardine takes to the wheel this weekend when he competes in the RACMSA Rally of Scotland.
Jardine, who was last in rally action in January, finished 18th overall in the event two years ago but has high hopes for a stronger finish this time.
He teams up with reknowned co-driver Gordon Noble in their Sky Bet/Prospeed backed Ford Fiesta R2.
The event is the only UK round of the 2011 Intercontinental Rally Challenge and has a record entry including big name drivers Freddy Loix, Juho Hanninen, Andreas Mikkelsen, Guy Wilks and Alister McRae.
With existing knowledge of the Perthshire and Stirlingshire regions, which will play host to 15 gruelling special stages, and a professional navigator with 26 years' experience to guide him through the event, Jardine has high hopes for the event.
He said: "I can't wait to get back behind the wheel of a rally car, as the Rally Monte Carlo in January was my last time out with ProSpeed and I'm in need of my next rallying fix!
"The Rally of Scotland is such a phenomenal event, with some spectacular stages and often challenging conditions.
"I'm really looking forward to working with Gordon. He is well known in international rallying and to have a co-driver of his expertise teaming up with us for this one-off event should teach us a thing or two."
Noble added: "When I got the call from Tony last week I jumped at the chance to get out there on stages such as Drummond Hill and Errochty. It will be a good experience and I'm looking forward to it."
The ceremonial Start will take place in front of Stirling Castle at 19:00hrs on Friday, with the rally finishing at the glorious Scone Palace in Perth on Sunday afternoon.
Jardine was also involved in the Britcar 24-hour race at Silverstone last weekend, won by Eclipse Motorsport.
The three-man team of Michael McInerney, his son Sean and Phil Keen, in their Ferrari 430, completed 573 laps of the Northamptonshire circuit 13 laps clear of their nearest rivals.
Jardine competed in one of three Mazda MX-5s who were all raising money for British Forces Charities.
The Sky Sports pundit teamed up with Major James Cameron, Brigadier Mike Hickson and former Royal Signals Sergeant Will Browning and finished a creditable 24th.
