Arden driver extends championship lead
Luiz Razia extended his championship lead after claiming his fourth victory of the season in the GP2 sprint race at Silverstone. Poleman Giedo van der Garde made a good start as DAMS pair Davide Valsecchi and Felipe Nasr battled behind the Caterham driver, allowing Razia to nip around the outside of Valsecchi and into third. A lap later Razia got past Nasr, and set about closing the gap to van der Garde, who was struggling with a flat spotted tyre. He fell back through the field and eventually pitted for new rubber. Valsecchi got past as his team-mate started to struggle and the Italian began to eat into Razia's lead, whilst Nasr fell backwards towards the battling Johnny Cecotto and Esteban Gutierrez. The Lotus driver got past Cecotto and closed onto the tail of Nasr, but out-braked himself, undoing all his good work. On the final lap Gutierrez and Cecotto continued to battle, and the Mexican ran wide at Stowe. As the Mexican rejoined the track, he had a 'tank-slapper' moment, and hit the Addax driver sending him into the barriers. Up front Razia held off Valsecchi to take victory, whilst a distant Nasr completed the podium. Gutierrez nursed his car with a broken front wing across the line for fourth, ahead of Britain's Jolyon Palmer. GP2 Standings1. Luiz Razia (BRA) - Arden - 165
