George Russell dominates qualifying to take F2 pole at Austrian GP

Title rival Lando Norris line-ups alongside on the front row

George Russell took a dominant pole position for the F2 Feature Race in Austria, with Lando Norris making it an all British front row.

The Mercedes junior found nearly four tenths of a second between his first and second runs, having already set the early pace, and four points for pole means Russell cuts Norris' championship lead to nine points, with 25 up for grabs on Saturday for the race winner.

Norris' Carlin team-mate Sergio Sette Camara completed the top three, with Russell's ART team-mate and fellow Briton Jack Aitken four quickest.

Following his radio outburst following the Sprint Race in France, Arjun Maini produced a strong performance to take fifth for Trident, over three tenths ahead of his team-mate Santino Ferrucci who was 14th.

Having qualified in the top three at every round this season, London-born Thai Alexander Albon was a disappointing eighth, and he was seemingly unsettled by a wide moment on his first flying lap.

However, Albon was a long way ahead of DAMS team-mate and birthday boy Nicholas Latifi who was 19th quickest.
