Title fight will go down to the wire after Hill struggles

Michael Rutter and James Ellison both secured wins in a rain-affected round at Silverstone as Tommy Hill's struggles kept the British Superbike title fight alive. Rutter came out on top in an absorbing battle with Josh Brookes and Michael Laverty in race one but suffered a costly fall in the second race. Ellis took the chequered flag in race two to win for the fist time since the opening round, while Worx Suzuki rider Hill saw his title lead cut to 11 points after finishing eighth and fifth. HM Plant Honda's Brookes had claimed pole position and showed good consistency in the difficult conditions to take a second and third in the races. He is now within touching distance of Hill heading into the three-race final round at Outlton Park. Brookes' team-mate Ryuichi Kiyonari lies third in the standings, 15 points behind Hill, while Laverty is also still in contention 19 points back.
