British Touring Car Championship: Colin Turkington wins to extend points lead

Colin Turkington extended his lead over British Touring Car Championship rival Gordon Shedden by clinching his seventh victory of the season at Rockingham on Sunday.
The Northern Irishman grew in strength on his WSR 1-Series as the race progressed despite heavy pressure from Sam Tordoff on his MG.
Lea Woods and Warren Scott crashed at high speed heading into the Deene hairpin, prompting a brief safety car period, but Turkington judged the restart well and duly beat Tordoff and Jason Plato into second and third place.
Honda's Shedden, who had attacked Plato early on, went into a 180-degree slide after touching his rival's MG6 and could only finish eighth after recovering.
Alain Menu finished fourth for BMR while Mercedes' Adam Morgan was fifth and reigning champion Andrew Jordan came in sixth. Fabrizio Giovanardi (Airwaves) took seventh place.
