British Superbikes: Shane Byrne and Ryuichi Kiyonari shine at Silverstone

Shane Byrne leads Ryuichi Kiyonari by 12 points as their battle for the British Superbike crown continued at Silverstone on Sunday.

Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki rider Byrne snatched the lead in the opener at Village Corner on the penultimate lap from Kiyonari and after they traded places six times on the final lap he won the race by 0.064secs.

Josh Brookes ran a close third on the Milwaukee Yamaha but the Australian crashed out of the second to end his hopes of taking the crown.

Kiyonari took the lead on his Buildbase BMW on the second lap of the second race, and then held off the close advances of Byrne to take the victory by 0.074secs.

James Ellison took third on the Lloyds British GBmoto Kawasaki.
