Good Week
England
England's cricketers made history this week as they secured a first series triumph in India in 27 years.
They batted for more than two sessions on day five to draw the final Test in Nagpur, beating India 2-1 in the series.
The final day saw Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott both secure centuries before the players shook hands after tea with the tourists on 352-4.
Bradley Wiggins
Team Sky cyclist Bradley Wiggins topped a stunning year by being crowned the BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
This achievement highlighted how popular Wiggins is with the British public and just how remarkable his success - becoming the first British rider to win the Tour de France and winning an Olympic gold medal in the men's time trial- has been throughout 2012.
Wiggins was up against some very tough competition, including Jessica Ennis, Mo Farah, David Weir and Andy Murray, yet on the night, he came out on top once again.
It was also a very good night for the other winners who were awarded at the ceremony. Lord Coe received the Lifetime Achievement award and 7/7 bomb survivor and Paralympian Martine Wright was presented with the prestigious Helen Rollason award.
Tom Watson
This week saw Tom Watson named as the US Ryder Cup captain for the 2014 match at Gleneagles.
Having won four of his five Open titles in Scotland, the appointment is clever and well-thought out.
It's not the first time Watson has had the honour though, having captained the US to a 15-13 victory at The Belfry in 1993.
With the Americans trying to win back the trophy in Scotland in two years' time, Watson will be 65 - making him their oldest-ever skipper. Previously, it was Sam Snead who was 57 when he did the job in 1969.
Amir Khan
It was a good week in the ring for boxer Amir Khan as he followed up back-to-back defeats with a stoppage win over Carlos Molina at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena.
With a new trainer, Virgil Hunter, Khan's focus on patience and a tight defence was sharp as he got to work.
Molina's corner pulled him out at the end of the tenth round and put Khan's career firmly back on track.
Bad Week
Arsenal
This week saw yet more woe for Arsene Wenger and his team as they suffered a shock defeat to Bradford City in the quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup.
Having named a strong squad, Wenger was left humiliated after Bradford grabbed a penalty shoot-out win.
It added to an already disappointing season for the Gunners, who currently sit eighth in the Premier League, 18 points behind leaders Manchester United.
Sale Sharks
Sale suffered a 62-0 thrashing from Toulon at Stade Mayol in the Heineken Cup this week.
The Sharks conceded nine tries in total and did not have much to offer going forward. Toulon's attacking prowess was far too much for them to handle as the uneven scoreline depicts.
The win meant Toulon moved five points clear at the top of Heineken Cup Pool 6 with Sale sitting in third place with just four points.
Chelsea
The misery continues for Rafa Benitez at Chelsea, after his side lost 1-0 in the Club World Cup final in Japan.
Corinthians hurt Chelsea and destroyed their chance of becoming world champions, with Paolo Guerrero scoring a second-half header.
It was a rather dismal affair all round as Rafa Benitez was denied his first trophy as Chelsea boss and Gary Cahill was sent off late on.
