Over 18,000 cyclists joined Sir Chris Hoy to take part in Sky Ride Manchester this weekend.

Cyclists out in force for traffic-free event

Sir Chris Hoy was back in the saddle on Sunday for Sky Ride Manchester - and a cast of thousands followed his example! The multiple world and Olympic champion was one of 18,500 cyclists to take to the streets for the eighth event of Sky Ride 2011, a national campaign to get one million people cycling regularly by 2013. Other famous faces from the world of cycling, including Matthew Crampton, Jason Kenny and Pete Kennaugh, took advantage of the traffic-free streets as did singer Alexandra Burke, a Sky Ride Ambassador.
