The Prestige Homes MK Lions got the better of the Worcester Wolves 99-82 at the Prestige Homes Arena on Tuesday.

Bolds and Pedroso contribute 20 points apiece for hosts

The Prestige Homes MK Lions got the better of the Worcester Wolves 99-82 in Tuesday's only British Basketball League game. Demarius Bolds and Nuno Pedroso both contributed 20 points apiece to help the Lions come out on top in front of the Sky Sports cameras. A steady start to the game from both sides saw them trading baskets through the early exchanges with neither able to open up a sizeable advantage. Richie Gordon scored four points in a hurry at the end of the first quarter to put the visitors into a 19-17 lead, only for the Lions to come roaring back at the start of the second. Bolds managed eight points during a 12-2 run for the hosts that took them clear of their opponents. Although the Wolves did briefly get themselves back into the game thanks to back-to-back three-pointers from Tommy Freeman, the Lions still went into the locker rooms 44-36 up.

Overhauled

They were then 13 points clear at one point in the third quarter only for Worcester to reel off an 18-4 burst that saw them overhaul their opponents and lead 67-64. However, Pedroso hit a huge three-pointer on the buzzer to send the Lions into the final quarter leading by a point at 73-72. From then on they kept their noses in front, a Stefan Gill three-pointer sparking a 15-3 tear that closed out the game and handed them a victory which moves them up to seventh in the table. At the end of the game, Lions head coach Mike New heaped praise on his team. "It was a great game and I was happy with the way that we came out big in the second half and we take a lot of comfort from the victory," he said.
