Andrew Bynum returned from suspension to land 29 points and 13 rebounds as the
LA Lakers edged out
Denver 92-89 at Staples Center on Saturday.
Bynum played the starring role as the Lakers clinched their third straight victory following an 0-2 start to the lockout-shortened new season.
Lawrence Frank won his first game as an NBA coach since April 2009 as his
Detroit Pistons saw off
Indiana 98-88.
Frank has taken charge of 20 games since then, for the Nets and more recently the Pistons, but finally tasted success thanks to 20 points and 12 rebounds from Jonas Jerebko.
Twenty-seven points from Kevin Martin helped the
Houston Rockets get one over on their former star Tracy McGrady and
Atlanta, as they won 95-84. McGrady, who ended with 13 points, was treated to boos throughout.

New York Knicks to a comfortable 114-92 win over the Kings, while Manu Ginobili scored nine from 10 in the field as
San Antonio Spurs beat the
Utah Jazz 104-89.
Coach Gregg Popovich became the 14th NBA coach to reach 800 wins in the process.

Philadelphia saw off
Golden State 107-79, with Lou Williams scoring 23 points off the bench for the 76ers.
