Dwyane Wade added 22 points and LeBron James 20, along with nine rebounds and eight assists, as the Heat racked up their eighth straight win.
Miami were given a further boost when the
Orlando Magic, second in the division, lost 83-78 to the third-placed
Atlanta Hawks.
The Hawks led by 17 at half-time and, though Orlando closed the gap in the third quarter, they hung on as Josh Smith top-scored with 22 points.
North-West Division leaders the
Oklahoma City Thunder beat the
Los Angeles Lakers 100-85, Kevin Durant racking up a game-high 33 points to lead them to victory.
The
San Antonio Spurs added to their lead in the South-West as DeJuan Blair's 28 points led them to a 114-99 win over the
Denver Nuggets.
