LA sees off Grizzlies to reach Western Conference semi-finals

The Los Angeles Clippers will play the San Antonio Spurs in the semi-finals of the NBA's Western Conference. The Clippers won the deciding game of their series with the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday to progress in the play-offs. LA claimed a 82-72 victory in game seven with Chris Paul leading the way with 19 points. Memphis, who had battled from 3-1 down to force a decisive seventh meeting, pulled back to within six points at 75-69 with two minutes 26 seconds left but could not overhaul their opponents. Rudy Gay and Marc Gasol both netted 19 points for the Grizzlies.

Triumph

The Clippers will now face the top-seeded Spurs, with game one of their series on Tuesday. Elsewhere on Sunday, the Miami Heat opened their Eastern Conference semi-final with a 95-86 home triumph over the Indiana Pacers. MVP LeBron James had 32 points and 15 rebounds and Dwyane Wade contributed 29 points for Miami.
