The highly-decorated 50-year-old has been named in Slovenia's sprint relay squad for next week's event in Barcelona.
Ottey, who moved to Slovenia following the Sydney Olympics in 2000, competed in her first European Championships in Gothenburg four years ago, reaching the semi-finals of the 100m at the age of 46.
She has won a remarkable 29 medals in major championships, making her debut at Moscow in 1980 where she took bronze in the 200m.
France's Nicole Brakebusch-Leveque is the oldest athlete so far to compete in the European Championships. She was 47 when she contested the marathon in Budapest in 1998.
