Warriner sets best time of the year in winning men's 400m

Mo Farah broke David Moorcroft's 28-year-old British 5,000metres record at the Weltklasse Diamond League meeting in Zurich. Farah finished fifth in a race won by Tariku Bekele of Ethiopia but his time of 12 minutes 57.94 seconds was comfortably better than Moorcroft's mark of 13mins 00.41secs set in the Bislett Games back in 1982. "I think it was amazing what he did tonight. It was a great run and to do it after his double win in Barcelona (at the European Championships) was a great run," Moorcroft said. "To do it after the season's major championships, it is a really physically and emotionally hard time of the season to produce your best, and for him to do it now is really special. "I think he's probably the most talented runner we've had in distance running." Meanwhile, American Jeremy Wariner proved he is over the injuries that have dogged his season by winning the men's 400m in 44.13secs - the best time posted this year. His compatriot David Oliver maintained his unbeaten record this season in the 110 hurdles in 12.93 seconds, just outside of Dayron Robles' world record. Allyson Felix ran a season's best 50.37secs to lead an American 1-2 finish in the women's 400m. However compatriot Carmelita Jeter was pipped by Jamaica's Veronica Campbell-Brown in a photo-finish in the women's 100m.
